I qualified from Manchester University in 1993 and became a partner in a General Practice in Woolpit in 1997. I have been interested in medical politics since the very beginning of my career, starting out with the BMA medical students committee; an interest that has stayed with me throughout my career.

Other interests
Throughout my life I have had an interest in sport. I played rugby in the front row for school, University, Manchester FC and Bury St Edmuds RUFC.
I then went back to riding horses and have been eventing for fun.
